Jim McIntosh attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in guitar performance. Jim McIntosh has been on the faculty at UNLV since 1994 teaching History of Rock.
He began working as a professional guitarist in Las Vegas in 1981 and has played many shows including Legends in Concert 1985- 1999, David Cassidy and Sheena Easton 2000-2001, Mamma Mia 2003-2008, Jersey Boys 2008-2016, Vegas The Show 2022-2025. Jim has also worked with many artists including Penn & Teller, Kenny Rogers, Lyle Lovett, Billy Preston, Slash, David Foster, Little Anthony and The Imperials, Petula Clark, The Lon Bronson band, Michael Grimm and many others.
Jim has also recorded two solo albums that included Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, Jeff Beck, The Neville bros, John Scofield and Mike Stern. Jim's second album "Jimmy McIntosh and..." received Downbeat online magazine's editors pick January 2015.
Also through Jim's musical relationship with Ronnie Wood, Ronnie donated the use of one of his paintings for the book cover for "Rock n Roll origins and innovators" by Tim Jones and Jim McIntosh"
