Mary Beth Leidman has been an active broadcast media producer and on-air interviewer throughout her career. Her scholarly and creative activities find expression through both traditional and non-traditional avenues and she is presently a Professor of Communications Media at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has written over three dozen articles on various topics ranging from radio to children to television to the digital divide and media criticism. Included in her varied and prolific career is having served as Educational Consultant with Raven Moon Productions’ “Gina D’s Kids Club, ” a live action/animated children’s television show between 2003-2008. Dr. Leidman hosted radio program series on WGAY-FM and WGMS-FM in the Washington, D.C. market for 10 years, and in Western Pennsylvania, including a live talk show stint for WCCS, Indiana. She has received two A.I.R. awards in the Pittsburgh market, was a three-time A.I.R. award finalist in Washington, D.C., and received the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Award for Best Public Service Announcement, as well as a Commendation from the Pennsylvania State Senate for outstanding contributions, specifically highlighting the PSA series, “Binge Drinking is NOT a Sport.” Dr. Leidman has also hosted a regular program on WIUP-TV for over 20 years and has developed television programs for regional PBS television stations and other Western Pennsylvania media outlets. Most recently, "Intersecting Sparks: Art and Science, Research and Imagination” won Featured Film at the NCA Film Festival and a Davies. Additional work includes “Highlights from the Fifth International Festival of Women Composers,” a compilation of musical offerings from the middle ages to the present time which was hosted by the late Pittsburgh KDKA personality Yvonne Zanos. Dr. Leidman produced and hosted the 2014 telecast of "Pipe Dreams" with Dr. David Martynuik, a live internationally streamed concert of the IUP Orchestra. This offering as well as much of her other work has been recognized by the Communicators Award, The Videographer Awards, International Radio and Television Society, and the National Broadcasting Society, among others In Spring, 2016 Dr. Leidman received the Distinguished Faculty Award for the Creative Arts from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in recognition of her sum total body of contributions in the area of electronic media. She earned her academic credentials at Montgomery College, Emerson College, WUJS Graduate Studies Institute, Israel and Vanderbilt University
