HSIAO-PING WU

Dr. Hsiao-Ping Wu is currently an Associate Professor of Bilingual education in the Department of Educator and Leadership Preparation at A&M University-San Antonio. She was an English as a foreign language (EFL) teacher in the elementary school in Taiwan and has been in the U.S. for 17 years to continue her career in the higher education. Her teacher areas focus on second language education foundation, second language pedagogy, and linguistics. Her research areas focus on the second language error analysis, computer-mediated communication, ESL teacher identity, computer-assisted language learning, and cultural assimilation of international students. Her works have been accepted peer-reviewed journals (i.e., International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, Language and Communication Quarterly, Teachers of English of Speakers of Other Language (TESOL)-Bilingual Education Interest Section (BEIS), or Education Research Journal). She also has presented her research works in the national conferences (i.e., AAAL, TESOL, NABE, NAFSA). 

ESTHER GARZA

Dr. Esther Garza is currently an Associate Professor of Bilingual and ESL Education at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. She spent 10 years as a certified bilingual teacher and has been a faculty member in higher education for over 16 years. As a faculty member, she has served as bilingual program coordinator, faculty advisor, student mentor, committee chair, and other critical roles in higher education. Her research interests are in science education for bilingual learners, biliteracy development, bilingual teacher preparation, bilingual health education, and multiculturalism. Due to her research interests, she has published in the Handbook of Latinos and education: Theory, research, and practice and many distinguished journals such as the Bilingual Research Journal, Action in Teacher and International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism. She recently served for the American Educational Research Association (AERA) as Secretary/Treasurer for the Latina/o/x Research Issues Special Interest Group (SIG).

MYRIAM JIMENA GUERRA

Dr. Myriam Jimena Guerra is an Assistant Professor of Bilingual and ESL Education at Texas A & M University- San Antonio. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Texas at San Antonio in the Bicultural/ Bilingual Program in Culture, Literacy and Language. She taught elementary school for 11 years as a bilingual educator at local public schools. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses focusing on methods for teaching reading and social studies in dual language settings, foundations of bilingual education, and second language education. She has presented regularly in international, national, and regional conferences. Dr. Guerra has published her work in national and international journals and co-authored the book: Second Language Education for Teachers Candidates and Professionals. Her education interests focus on biliteracy and bilingualism in multiple contexts (Home/ School), family literacies, Latinx children’s literature, bilingual education, dual language programs, and culturally sustaining pedagogies.
