Emily Ravenwood lived in Northern California her entire life, perpetually surrounded by the redwood trees and rain. At first, she appeared to be a typical teenager, surrounded by friends and family, with big dreams of going to college. But when a series of violent accidents occur, taking away those closest to her, Emily begins to wonder if she will ever get back to normal. Guilt ridden, Emily is unable to explain how she alone survived the accidents. She can't remember how she escaped and the details she can remember don't seem to match the evidence.
Then the nightmares begin. Emily suddenly hears voices in her room and sees shadows on the wall; something is trying to reach her. But then, when a mysterious new student named Gavin enrolls in her school everything spirals out of control and Emily doesn't know who to trust. Gavin captures her attention immediately and she finds herself drawn to him unexplainably, captivated by his flawless beauty and seductive charm. Despite her better judgement, Emily must go back and discover who Gavin truly is and the truth about her past before it is too late.
