Dr. Bill Cleveland is an assistant professor for the School of Education at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Cleveland has spent more than 30 years in the public education arena serving as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. He started his education career in Jefferson County, Alabama at Minor High school and Botten-field Junior High School. He then moved to Spain Park High School in the Hoover City School System in Hoover, Alabama. Following that, he was selected to serve as principal at Homewood Middle School in Homewood, Alabama and eventually became the superintendent of Homewood City Schools from 2008 to 2020. Prior to joining the faculty at Samford, Cleveland he served as an educational consultant.

Along with being a professor, Dr. Cleveland also serves as a speaker for school systems and leadership groups using humor and encouragement to model positive leadership for our schools. He also provides expertise in several areas as a consultant for school systems.
