Hi, I am Nic or more professionally known as Dr. Nicholas Zoffel. I am professor at Sierra College in Rocklin, CA and earned my PhD from Bowling Green State University in 2007. I am also often a tweet, FB post, LinkedIn endorsement or meme away from knowing my authentic self. I approach interpersonal communication by focusing on power, process, and order to explore relationships within education. The discipline of Communication often addresses these vectors through critical communication pedagogy. As you traverse the pages of this text, you will notice a heavy connection between disciplinary language and stories. We often call this type of embodied research ethnography. I frequently use this method to explore the dynamics of relationships that intersect interpersonal, intercultural, and media use. As a communication professor and heavy consumer of culture (like a lot of Spotify, hulu, Netflix, social media, and professional wrestling), I seek to better understand identity, community, and attend to issues of difference, social influence, and power as part of routine relationships.
