Since its creation in 1987, Adobe Photoshop has become the industry standard for digital photo editing, offering a variety of techniques in image creation.
Visual Literacy: A Practical Text on the History, Analysis, and Creation of Visual Media by Patrick Flynn and Kyle Brannon includes exercises utilizing Photoshop for design, photography, and motion pictures. In the case of photography, the application of Photoshop is obvious. However, in the case of design and motion pictures, it is not an industry-recommended tool. It has been chosen as the digital software used throughout the book to simplify the amount of software required to work and learn these disciplines.
The book’s corresponding website includes video tutorials that address the most basic set of skills to help one become familiar with the program. Skills include resolution and file presets, basic photo retouching, text and shape creation, filters, animation panels, and much more.
