Walking for Everyone is designed for the person who is just beginning an exercise program. It includes the basics about walking, nutrition, behavior change, and holistic health with a dash of information about strength training and stretching. Assessments are included in each chapter as well as a journal- style tracking system at the end of the text. The narrative is in a “conversational” tone for easy reading and comprehension. Hamill
Shelley Hamill, PhD, MCHES is a professor at Winthrop University. She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist and has more than 30 years of combined teaching experience at the elementary, middle, and college levels. Dr. Hamill teaches courses in personal health, human sexuality, women’s health, and teaching methods, in addition to activity courses including aerobic walking and tennis. Dr. Hamill has been recognized for her contributions to health education receiving numerous awards throughout her career. Additionally, she was recognized by Dr. David Satcher, US Surgeon General for her work with tribal communities dealing with HIV/AIDS, STDs, and substance abuse.
