  • incorporates introspective assignments strategically positioned within each chapter and online to encourage perpetual activity, skills for adaptation to change, and self-reflection for continuous engagement in practicing healthy behaviors.
  • includes an online learning environment that is interactive yet an autonomous avenue for students to complete poll questions, interactive activities, assignments and a pre- and post-course wellness assessment.
  • provides an atmosphere in which students feel they have more privacy when completing online activities which can contain personal thoughts and information.

Mindy Mayol

Mindy Hartman Mayol, PhD, ACSM EP-C, is currently an Assistant Professor in the College of Health Sciences’ Department of Kinesiology, Health & Sport Sciences at the University of Indianapolis teaching in both the Exercise Science and Public Health Education & Promotion programs. Mayol received her PhD in the Health & Rehabilitation Sciences program at Indiana University Indianapolis with a Functional Participation/Limitation concentration and minor in Social and Behavioral Sciences through the Fairbanks School of Public Health. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and her Master’s degree in Applied Sport Science from Indiana University Bloomington. Mayol holds a Certified Health Fitness Specialist certification from the American College of Sports Medicine. She was awarded the 2014 UIndy Faculty Achievement Award and the IAHPERD Recreation Professional/Leisure Educator of the Year Award in 2010. Mayol published the 3rd edition of her textbook, Wellness: The Total Package, (2019) focusing on multi-dimensional wellness for emerging adults. Her research line includes studying sport motivation, multi-dimensional wellness, self-compassion and performance self-esteem in collegiate student-athletes and examining hope, optimism, group cohesion, motivation and perceived stress in special populations. Mayol currently resides in Indianapolis, IN, with her two sons, Alexander and Vincent.
