Abstract
This case study outlines family dynamics in the context of fitness and fatness. Set against the nonfictional backdrop of autoethnographic reflection, this case highlights the role and responsibilities families have to shape and guide discourses of weight, size, health, and wellness when it comes to children. Pitting lived experience against medical science, this case study examines aspects of social identity, stigma, sensemaking, social support, and family/health communication.
