World Music & Culture: Travel Through Traditional and Contemporary Soundscapes from Around the World is a turn-key course package that introduces students to several musical cultures from around the globe. The interactive online course uses YouTube and similar videos to empower students to experience performers/cultural specialists in the context of their culture. It is intended for everyone interested in learning about different cultures, with a focus on music. It is geared toward non-musicians and musicians alike.

AVERY
Dr. Dawn Avery is an educator, Grammy Nominated musician, recording and touring artist, and 2011 United States Professor of the Year. She received her PhD from the University of Maryland, College Park, specializing in the development of Indigenous theory and its application to Native Classical Music. Her secondary study was polyphonic instrumental music of central Africa. Dr. Avery is professor and director of the Montgomery College World Music Program in Rockville, MD.
