One of the most common places where people encounter communication in their day-to-day lives is in the workplace. When you think about the modern workplace, adults spend an average of 7.5 hours a day working. Conservatively speaking, you’ll probably spend a minimum of 111 days each year in the work environment over the course of 40 years. If you’re quick on your feet, you might quickly realize that the average person will spend approximately 33,300 hours at work, which translates to roughly four years of that 40 year period. Although four years of one’s working life may not sound too horribly bad, it still tends to be one of the most common things an adult will do right behind sleep (assuming someone actually gets the requisite 8 hours of sleep per day).
