Kris Hans
Kris Hans, MBA, is an incoming PhD student in Transdisciplinary Research at the University of Calgary (starting Fall 2025), where his research focuses on artificial intelligence in the workplace. He has taught 65 sections of Business Communication at Mount Royal University and the University of Lethbridge — reaching more than 2,000 students — and over 200 courses overall across business management, creativity, design thinking, entrepreneurship, marketing, and communication. Backed by consecutive Teaching and Learning Enhancement Grants (TLEG) funded by MRU’s Provost’s Office, he pioneered AI-integrated coursework in 2023. Beyond academia, Kris advises organizations of every size, from early-stage startups and SMEs to global multinationals.
Kris began teaching in 2005 at the Bissett School of Business and stepped into Business Communication in Fall 2016, delivering the course in every format: twice-weekly lectures, single three-hour blocks, six-week spring/summer intensives, face-to-face, hybrid, and both synchronous and asynchronous online sections. He started drafting Business Communication Decoded in October 2020, transforming insights from his pandemic-era teaching (having earned online-teaching certification as early as 2013) into field-tested frameworks. Two TLEG-supported pilots refined the AI prompts and policies that run through the book.
