While not being concerned as much with involving the theory of a subject or area of study, The Dance of Life is designed more for its practical application.

Dance is doing. It takes years of training in all 3 disciplines to become a professional dancer. The language and syllabus provide the basic terminology for ballet, tap and Jazz and the courses are designed towards those seeking a career in musical theatre.

The Dance of Life begins with ballet. It is the best foundation to support many areas of dance. Especially in musical theatre. For those entering the profession as performers it is vital to train in dance drama and voice. Known as “A triple threat”.  Today there are more people entering the industry, bringing even more!

Terrie Robinson, author of The Dance of Life has gathered an assortment of tutorials, videos, examples of the students work, as well as their reflections of the work done in college. There are links to some of the greatest performers in our industry and the influencers and history of their beginnings.

The Dance of Life:

  • includes a video example of a young ballet dancer, a private student, demonstrating all the requirements for her audition submission for acceptance to the Royal Ballet school scholarship.
  • features a private ballet student’s submission for acceptance to college. She is also dancing a jazz piece “Take Five”. This is a standard Jazz piece used at the college with a written break down of the steps.
  • is designed as a fast track to get them on the stage! It also includes the students’ observations and reflections and there are many links to some of the great performers past and present.
  • integrates an example of a graduate students’ audition submission for musical theatre.
