Spotlight on Reading is an innovative college textbook for students in need of remediation in reading to meet the challenges posed by college-level courses.

This three-volume text covers the span of students struggling at 5th & 6th grade reading levels (including ESL students and those with learning disabilities) to those ready to tackle freshman composition classes.

Students are motivated by biographies of celebrities whom they are probably familiar with, as well as other celebrities whose stories and contributions they should know. Pull-out SQ3R cards reinforce essential study skills throughout each text. These comprehensive texts also provide vocabulary reinforcement throughout, as well as units covering newspaper and literature comprehension.

The books have been tested in several classrooms, and students and teachers have remarked on the ease of use with clear language to promote literal, critical, and affective reading skills in the classroom. Both of the authors are currently teaching and using the books successfully in their classrooms. Click here to see how reading scores improved in their classrooms after using Spotlight on Reading. The authors are also open and excited to give workshops for the use of the books.
