Reza Ahmadi

Reza Ahmadi is an accomplished interior design educator, practitioner, and program leader with over four decades of experience. He holds a Master of Arts in Interior Design from Florida State University and a Master of Architecture from Kansas State University. His career spans teaching positions at Delgado College, Central Missouri State University, Kansas State University, and Woodbury University, where he also directed the Interior Design Program.

In Los Angeles, he founded and managed a successful interior design practice, completing a wide range of residential and commercial projects. Since 1992, he has served on the faculty at Ball State University, where he directed the Interior Design Program for 22 years. During his tenure, he expanded the curriculum, secured CIDA accreditation in 2007, 2014, and 2021, and launched transformative initiatives including Ball State’s online graduate program in interior design, the University Design Center, and the Youth Interior Design Forum. He has also published numerous articles, with a strong focus on universal design.

Ahmadi remains dedicated to advancing interior design education, fostering innovation, and mentoring the next generation of designers.

Sarah Alfaro

Dr. Sarah Angne Alfaro has a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from the University of Cincinnati Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP) program, a Master’s degree in Interior Design and a Certificate in Historic Preservation from Savannah College of Architecture and Design(SCAD), and a Doctoral degree in Architectural Studies from University of Missouri-Columbia. Sarah has worked in the field for both large and small design firms, designed residentially and commercially, ranging from institutional to themed-entertainment facilities. Later she became a territory manager and eventually opened her own practice. Sarah began teaching as an adjunct in 2007 and is currently tenured and the Program Coordinator of the Interior Design Program at Ball State University. She leans on a learner-centered approach to relay concepts of theory and practice into her pedagogy in order to mentor, equip, and collaborate among the future generation of designers. Sustainability has always been at the forefront of her practice, education, and scholarship. Sarah uses a synergistic combination of qualitative methods in her scholarly investigations. Interested in how the designed environment shapes the actions of people, and how people shape the place, she is positioned in the field of environment-behavior (EB) focusing on the fluid built form; places in the state of becoming, never finished, always being performed.
